The truth is some of us know very little about ants. I would include myself but after doing the research for this blog you could call me an Ant Expert now. Firstly, there are weird facts like that some ants can take over and enslave other ants. Secondly, there are fun facts like some ants have global super colonies. Lastly, there are even insightful facts like that ants collect food by following scent trails. All this and others will be discussed in this blog, and before you know it you too will know the truth about ants.
Ants can do what?
I don’t think there was any ant fact that didn’t shock me. Firstly, these little suckers can carry 20 times their body weight. For example, if a 2nd grader could lift what an ant could, they would be able to lift a car! Secondly, most queens can have so many babies. But can you believe there are some queens who can have A MILLION babies? And once a queen dies, the colony can only survive a few months. Thirdly, when ant colonies fight they will do it to the death. The winner will then invade the previous colony and take all of the eggs back to their colony where they enslave all the babies from birth and make them work.
How to for Ants
Do you ever stop and wonder if an ant has lungs? Well, here’s a how-to guide for how ants do basic things. Firstly, ants don’t have lungs. They breathe thru tiny holes that are all over their body. Secondly, ants can’t hear. They “hear” by feeling vibrations in the ground thru there feet. Thirdly, while they search for food they leave a trail so they can always know where they’ve been and where the best food is.
