What are Worker Ants?
Worker ants remain within the colony for most of their lives and do not have wings. Firstly, They are the largest portion of the population within the colony and can live up to five years. Secondly, Workers ants appear in all the species. Thirdly, It is up to them to be in charge of protecting and nurturing the colony. Lastly, A diet rich in protein will determine whether a female and will be a queen. However, if not she will be forced to live as a worker.
Worker Ants: YOU GO GIRL!
According to Katja Schulz, Worker ants are all female, and this sisterhood is responsible for the harmonious operation of the colony. A worker ant’s job is similar to what a mom does. She cares for the young members of the colony, provides food, and ensures harmony is maintained between clan members.
In conclusion, We all know ants can be an annoyance. No one wants ants in their home. No one wants to invite them to the party. But they are important members of our ecosystem. Without ants there to help aerate soil, plant roots would not receive the water they need to survive. They also help transfer seeds into their tunnel, that often sprout to become a new plant that provides oxygen. Finally, Thanks to worker ants, a thriving colony can help maintain and nourish our earth.
