Starting the Day Off Right
A well-stocked truck is key for a successful day on the job. So the start to any day is reviewing the day’s route to ensure that everything is good to go! Since the jobs vary day to day, it is essential this step not be missed. This could include grabbing extra traps, chemicals or equipment that is not normally kept on the trucks. At this time the technician will get with the office about any questions or concerns that they may have about the day’s route. This essures that everyone is on the same page and nothing gets missed!
Time to Hit the Road!
To maximize efficiency and time management, technicians are usually assigned to tightly gridded areas organized by Zip Codes. Thanks to modern technology, service routing has become much simpler and more effective. Technicians’ routes primarily comprise appointments to perform regular pest control maintenance for the company’s existing customer base.
However, even with the each day being prescheduled, the technician must also be ready to change it up. Frequently, new routes and schedules are assigned based upon need. This would include new customers, service calls and emergencies. This is quite frequent as our main duty is to the customer. This can come in many forms, an allergic customer may call in because of bees, or a new customer may have a rodent problem. When this happens routine maintenance is put on hold for the time being. But no worries about getting all the work completed, many times the technicians will work all together to make sure the everyone is taken care of.
Never a Dull Moment
No day is the same, one day you could be poking around in an attic for small entry ways that allow rodents to get in. While the next you could be on a high lift removing wasp nests from side of commercial buildings. And then rounding out the day with snake catching! Yes, sometimes the days can be a bit routine but in no ways is it comparable to a 9-5 office job. Even when the day only consist of routine maintenance, you still have traffic and mother nature to deal with. And in Florida, with our bi-polar weather, you can be hit with cold temps in the morning, rain in the afternoon and high temps later in the day. Many technicians will carry an extra set of clothes for this very reason.
