2. Termites eat their feces. Surprisingly, termites do not naturally posses the bacteria and enzymes required to digest tough plant matter and fungi. Meaning, they actually eat other termites feces to prepare their bodies.
3. Termites are blind. However, don’t underestimate the strength in their other senses! In fact, Termite kings and queens do have small but weak eyes. But, the workers and soldiers are entirely blind. Instead, termites depend on pheromones, their sense of touch and environmental cues.
4.Termites and Ants are enemies. For real..they are mortal enemies. If nested close to each other they will engage in war. Even though Termites are bigger, the ants annihilated by ants. The ants tend to be more aggressive than Termites.
5. They were buds with the dinosaurs! Well, maybe not, but its a fun thought anyways! To put things in perspective, dinosaurs existed about 230 million years ago and termites are believed to have appeared on earth more than 250 million years ago.
