How in the heck do insects and yards have anything to do with each other? Believe it or not, there are some insects that just love the taste of grass. Your green grass is heaven for them, and they will do anything to get it. A lot of the time it is harder to diagnose if it is an insect because they kill the grass and are usually harder to see. Let’s dive into 2 of the most common insects that love too much on your green grass.
Is it chinch bugs?

Firstly, how do I even know if I have chinch bugs? Well, the way that is most common is if you notice yellowish spots that rapidly turn brown and die. Secondly, how do I have an infestation? These bugs will work outward for the center and destroy grass as they move. They develop in dry weather and love dry summers. Thirdly, they actually prefer direct sunlight so your grass that is all nice and shaded is safer than the rest of your yard.
Is it sod webworms?

How in the heck do I know if I have sod webworms? Firstly, if you notice a lot of small colored moths flying above your yard in a zig-zag pattern in the evening hours then that is a sign of an infestation. Secondly, the moths are actually not what destroys your yard. It is the larvae that destroy it. They emerge during the evening hours and feed by clipping grass blades. During the day they hide in tunnels. Thirdly, the first symptoms of dame are small patches of dead grass which are in the middle of damaged areas.
