How often should you be watering your lawn? As Floridians, each year we prepare ourselves for the Summer afternoon showers and very sunny and hot days. Many believe these showers provide enough water for their lawns, this belief can prove unwise and could potentially be the root cause to one of the most common lawn issues. You see what I did there? 😉 If you’re not doing these things you should be!
Avoid Lawn Stress by Following These Simple Tips:
- You should water your lawn in the early morning hours, this allows the water to be absorbed before it is evaporated by the intense Florida heat!
- Check your irrigation regularly to ensure that it is providing even coverage and run time is long enough. To be able to guarantee you’re running your system long enough, try the “tuna can” sprinkler hacl!
- You should water at least 2 times per week, depending on duration of afternoon showers. If showers last 15 minutes, lawn will still need watering. If showers persist for an hour or longer, lawn should not require further watering!
- Each lawn is unique, so let it speak to you regarding its needs. Be on the lookout for folding grass blades and color getting pale. If either of these occur, it could mean that your lawn is stressed and not getting enough water!
